Towson Ranked Number 5 Best College Town

Towson was chosen last week as 5th on the list for best college cities in the Baltimore Business Journal.
The city of Towson is doing a lot to benefit the college students in the community. The Chamber of Commerce is in the process of expanding what Towson has to offer. They are currently submitting surveys to college students requesting their opinion of what would make the experience of living in Towson more pleasant, according to Nancy Hafford. “It will take about a month to get going, but why should we presume to know what college students want?”
The Chamber of Commerce is walking around Towson University with fifty students from three classes and asking what they would like to see in Towson. Hafford says that Baltimore County is interested in helping the community and a lot of money could be invested. Councilman David Marks agreed and believes that Towson University is a big part of the community and there are a lot of great aspects in the area but the Universities and Colleges are very important.
With all there is to do in Towson, many students find the experience to be positive. “I think Towson is a great town to go to college because it is close to both Baltimore and Washington, but far enough away that you’re not living in the total chaos of the city,” said Towson University student Mary McCarthy.
Towson University is less than a mile from the hustle and bustle of downtown Towson which accumulates shopping centers, movie theaters, bars, and more. Towson student Vince Powers agreed with Towson ranking the 5th best college town and said that living in Towson is a great experience filled with friendly people and an overall positive environment.
During the summer Towson offers many activities such as concerts every Friday from the 2nd week of May until the end of September. “A lot of people don’t realize what we have in Towson,” said Hafford. “We’re in such a great place, shopping centers, beaches and New York City are so close. I’m not surprised we made the list.”
